There is immense economic and political fragility in the European Community. Rising unemployment and reaction against austerity measures designed to drive down deficits also raises the spectre of intolerance, dangerous racism and protectionism. We pray against dangerous talk about ‘repatriation’ and pray for whatever binds diverse communities together. Father thank you that all families find their beginning, fulfilment and completion in Christ. We pray for peace among and within the nations of Europe. Amen.
The tragic death of two children and the attempted suicide of their mother in a house in south London highlights the fragility of mothers who live with post-natal depression. We hold the tragedy of that particular family in prayer before God, praying for the family’s father who found his children and a mother and wife in custody. Father, we pray for mothers struggling with depression and for families managing and holding that illness, sometimes secretly. We pray for all agencies seeking to support them. Amen.
We pray for Jago Wynne as he plans his new ministry at Holy Trinity, leading our contemporary evening worship and growing our Alpha course and home groups. We pray too for his wife Susannah and their children, Daisy and Boaz. Father we pray Jago as he prepares to begin new ministry at Holy Trinity in September. We pray for arrangements yet to be made regarding housing and for our mission ministry in and to Clapham. Amen.
We pray for all who are unwell, including Carmen Bennett, Charles Donoghue, Leslie Sharman, Betty Shearman (now in a nursing home), and Rosie Smith (Joy Hackett’s sister); for the patients in Trinity Hospice, their families and friends; for all who mourn, and especially for Jessie and Russell Hedges following the recent death of Tony. Tony’s funeral will take place at Holy Trinity this Thursday 17 May at 1.00pm. Father give us grace to minister your healing to hurting lives, to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. Amen.
Please pray for children under 5, who were baptised or whose Service of Thanksgiving took place at Holy Trinity, whose birthday is at this time:
Today! Mungo MacInnes; 17th Charlie Green; 18th Millie Beharrel Boyes
Congratulations to Daniel and Natalie Isherwood on the birth of twin sons, Max Michael and Thomas Owen on Friday morning, brothers to Imogen.

We are delighted to announce that Revd Jago Wynne will be coming to Holy Trinity as our Associate Rector in September this year. His first Sunday with us will be 9th September. Jago is currently a curate at Holy Trinity Brompton, and lives in Clapham with his wife Susannah, and their children Daisy (6) and Boaz (4). He will share in leading and preaching at our morning services, but his main responsibility will be for launching a new weekly Evening Service - based on the format of our current monthly Connect service. He will also be responsible for running our Alpha Courses and co-ordinating and developing our Home Groups. Before ordination Jago worked for five years at Accenture, and then as a lay minister at All Souls’ Langham Place. He is the author of a book on Faith at Work, “Working without Wilting.”

The Big Lunch is about getting to know our neighbours at the same time as having fun. The Environment Group is planning a Jubilee Big Lunch in Holy Trinity churchyard on Bank Holiday Monday 4th June from midday onwards. Bring your own food and drink to share with others, home-prepared and locally sourced if possible. Form a group if you like to provide the catering, and try to include someone in need of companionship. This year we are going to invite neighbours from nearby streets to join us; the Big Lunch is open to all in our community. There will be a children’s competition. Leaflets in the pews with more information, and how you can help.

Trinity 7-Ups Heidi Usher and Leona Mani have been running Trinity 7-Ups since September last year. We are very grateful to them for taking over responsibility for this fortnightly group for 7-11 year olds on Friday evenings (6.30-8pm in the Wilberforce Centre). They need a third co-ordinator to work with them this term, and another volunteer to take Leona’s place from September. This would ideally be a member of our congregation and male volunteers are particularly welcome! For more information please contact Heidi on heidiusher@gmail.com.
