Who's Who

Rector
Canon David Isherwood

I am a Christian of the open evangelical Anglican sort, thoroughly at home at Holy Trinity Clapham. It's nothing less than a privilege to be working here at such and important time, bound as we are with the founding of the Bible Society, Church Mission Society and the Abolition of the Slave Trade. Scripture and its interpretation and Mission and its application run very deep in the life of our church and in my vision that every member actively engages with God's purpose for them and us. We are called to live and articulate our faith afresh in every generation - to be witness - and to invent new ways of connecting people with God.

O yes, and I’m dead keen on sailing on my day off and own and sail two dinghies (at different times you understand) – an RS Vision and a Gull Spirit - and will not be found anywhere else but Littleton Sailing Club on Thursday (my day off). I enjoy reading biographies and have just started Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and finished in two days The Ghost - gripping stuff. Enough, maybe too much, about me. Whatever your reason for visiting, we’re glad you’ve called at this website. We look forward to connecting with you personally.

Honorary Curate & Trinity Hospice Chaplain
Rev’d Caroline Clarke

Ordained in October 2000, Caroline and her husband Christopher have been part of Holy Trinity since 1976. After reading Theology at Cambridge she trained as an RE teacher and while bringing up their three children served as an active lay member of Holy Trinity including being Churchwarden. Since ordination she worked full time at Holy Trinity for 3 years, becoming part-time in 2003 when she took on the half-time post of Chaplain and Spiritual Care Lead at Trinity Hospice. She is a member of SpiDir, the Spiritual Direction network, and a supporter of Inclusive Church. She enjoys travel, theatre, opera and sailing her small dinghy in the Isle of Wight.

Honorary Curate
Rev'd Richard Jones

Working part-time at Holy Trinity since his ordination in October 2006, Richard still works full-time in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Richard previously worshipped at St Barnabas' Clapham Common since 1984, except during overseas postings in the British Embassies in Fiji and Japan, when he was active in the Anglican church there (Holy Trinity Cathedral Suva and St Alban's Church Tokyo).

Churchwardens
Karen Simmonds

Karen lives in Clapham with her husband and 2 daughters. She has been coming to Holy Trinity for 5 years. She became a Christian 12 years ago after having completed an Alpha course at Holy Trinity Brompton. Karen says "I felt God had been gently guiding me back to Him." In searching for a meaning to her life, she found the Alpha course really helpful. As well as running her own business - a family focused travel agency, she enjoys family time, playing tennis and cooking.
